UNFPA is seeking highly motivated candidates that transform, inspire and deliver high mpact and sustained results; we need staff who are transparent, exceptional in managing the resources entrusted to them and who commit to deliver excellence in programme results.The United Nations in PNG has been actively engaged in Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) and peacebuilding initiatives for more than a decade, with programming primarily centred on facilitating the sustained implementation of the Bougainville Peace Agreement in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville and promoting peacebuilding and conflict mitigation efforts in Hela and the Southern Highlands provinces, with a strong focus on women and youth empowerment.

You will ensure the effective programme management support to to Joint Programme’s activities that will ensure linkages with sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights, adolescents and youth empowerment, and gender equality, women empowerment, and gender-based violence, and population dynamics in the project sites. Working to advance the ICPD policy agenda in a challenging environment, you will respond to changing priorities of the State Government, promoting partnership and strategic alliances with counterparts in government, multi-lateral and bilateral agencies, civil society organizations and local communities, to address emerging issues, and effectively influence diverse stakeholders towards achieving UNFPA’s mandate in the State, so that no women and girls are left behind. You will actively contribute to UN Reform through coordination at State level with other UN agencies and participation in policy dialogue and provision of inputs into joint initiatives.

You would be responsible for: A. Programme Management and Coordination B. Policy Dialogue and Technical Support C. Advocacy, Partnerships and Resource Mobilization  D. Office Management & Leadership:

Qualification
o At least a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Gender/Womens’s Studies, Community Development or equivalent qualifications in a relevant, directly
related discipline.
o Must be meticulous - have a keen eye for details, looking for excellence/ perfection/quality in all technical matters.
Professional experience
o Supporting a programme/project for a minimum of five years; programme management support experience with the UN/UNFPA and joint programmes is an
advantage
o Has a minimum experience of working on peacebulding of three years, especially with adolescents and youth
o Working in Papua New Guinea/Pacific, especially in AROB and the Highlands (Hela Provimce and Southern Highlands), is also an advantage
o Has a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
